The Summer School in Nuclear Physics and Technologies, organized in the framework of a collaboration between the University of Ferrara and the College of Engineering of the University of Texas at Austin, is an educational training dedicated to the applications of nuclear and radiation Physics, addressed to students having at least a bachelor degree in a scientific discipline. Thanks to the support provided by the Ferrara Section of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), students attending the Summer School will participate to didactic activities and will have the opportunity of visiting the Gran Sasso National Laboratories (LNGS) and the TRIGA Research Reactor in Pavia.
Lectures will be held in English in the rooms and laboratories of the Department of Physics and Earth Sciences of the University of Ferrara from May 31 2017 to June 30 2017. At the end of the Summer School participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
The scope of the Summer School is to introduce frontier technologies and topics in the field of Nuclear Physics. A particular focus will be dedicated to technological advancements and applications in the research and development sectors which are most relevant in the international panorama (e.g. homeland security, raw materials, Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials, sustainable agriculture...).
The presence of stakeholders and the possibility of being introduced to future PhD programs makes the Summer School the ideal playground for young people motivated to continue their studies in the field of applied nuclear Physics.
