The Planck heritage: toward the LiteBIRD space mission
Abstract
The Planck measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) firmly established the ΛCDM model as the standard framework of modern cosmology. The mission's remarkable scientific success resulted from a carefully integrated approach combining instrument design, calibration, observing strategy, simulations, and data analysis, all optimized to control instrumental systematics and astrophysical foregrounds. As LiteBIRD takes on the formidable challenge of measuring the primordial CMB B-mode polarization, many aspects of the Planck experience provide a valuable legacy for meeting LiteBIRD's unprecedented requirements.
