Coastal State and Evolution in Cadses
| The main activities can be summarised as follows: Collection of the existing hydro-meteo-marine observations and identification of appropriate methodologies to be applied in assessing conditions of risk (either natural of anthropogenic) for coastal areas. Various joint activities among the partners in a trans-national frame are expected for data collection and exchange, as well as for testing new analysis methods. Also historical records will be considered, where available. Determination of the best techniques for responding to or mitigating the above risks. Monitoring of sediment transport in specific basins. Experimentation of techniques of intervention on coastal erosion. Design of guidelines for protection and management of coastal areas based on an integrated land-sea view of the problem for adoption by public institutions also in the planning of future territorial development of CADSES area. Development of a network system where each user has the possibility of sharing data and information with other users. Creation of a common and homogeneous data base for the CADSES area, including information concerning the distribution of public works, human activities with potential influence on coastal equilibrium, etc.. Promoting methods for a better spreading of information on coastal areas, their preservation, their management, their role in the planning of territorial development. Carrying out professional and educational training on the management and protection of coastal areas. Planning the extension of the approach to other areas of Europe. |

Objectives:
1. Developing international standards for the definition of a “state of the coast” useful for the territorial planning and management, engineering, insurance, etc., of the processes (both on land and at sea) that determine the coastal state through the land-sea interaction, of the processes (both natural and human) that determine the evolution (dynamics) of the coastal state.
2. Developing efficient monitoring systems for the state of the coast and its evolution, efficient techniques for the protection of endangered coastal areas and the reconstruction of damaged ones.
3. Developing and diffusing an integrated culture of land-sea interaction in coastal areas for their preservation and management as well as for planning of future development of CADSES area, together with guidelines to be adopted by public institutions for the protection of the coast.
