Technology transfer

The Department of Physics and Earth Sciences is actively engaged in technology transfer, a key process that transforms scientific discoveries into concrete, applicable solutions for industry and society. Through ongoing dialogue with businesses, public and private institutions, and other research organizations, we promote the development of our expertise and innovation, fostering the emergence of new technologies, patents, and startups.

The goal of technology transfer is to facilitate the transition of scientific knowledge from the laboratory to the marketplace, contributing to economic and social development. Collaborations with the industrial sector allow us to address real challenges, providing innovative and sustainable solutions to emerging societal needs.

Through applied research projects, specialized consulting, and the creation of spin-offs and startups, the Department is a hub for technological and scientific growth in the region, fostering integration between academic research and the manufacturing sector.

We work for a future where science is not only a source of knowledge, but also a driver of progress and well-being.

The Department of Physics and Earth Sciences collaborates with local organizations both directly, through commissioned research contracts, and through the Ferrara Technology Park, a body specifically created to address specific industrial research and technology transfer needs.

The Ferrara Technology Park hosts the laboratories of the Emilia-Romagna Region's High Technology Network and the Consorzio Futuro in Ricerca (CFR) innovation center.

The Consorzio Futuro in Ricerca is a non-profit organization with public and private participation, whose primary objectives are the promotion, development, and valorization of the region's human, scientific, technological, and economic resources.
